On May 19th, Sara Flowers spoke at Southern Connecticut State University’s 3rd annual Focus on the First-Year Conference presenting “The Universally Designed First- and Entry-Year Experience.” This presentation addressed the problem of the research and modeling of first-year experiences not meeting the needs of adult, parenting, commuter, or incarcerated university students in their entry year of studies. Dr. Flowers shared the work that the Adult Transitions, Learning, and Success (ATLaS) Congressionally Directed Spending project is doing to explore the various models of serving our learners better.
